WAXING METHODS

Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hairs will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair. If waxing is done regularly for several years, permanent hair reduction may be achieved.

Strip waxing — is accomplished by spreading a thinly layer of warm wax over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth.

Hot or Hard waxing — is another method of waxing involves hot wax, a soft wax directly applied to the skin. The wax then hardens when it cools, thus allowing the easy removal by a therapist without the aid of cloths. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin, and is mainly used in the more sensitive area’s of the body such as under arms, pubic region, and face.

GENITAL WAXING INCLUDING THE BRAZILIAN WAX

At Dare to be Bare if there is one thing we do know about it’s waxes and waxing, and for us only the best will do, the best waxes, and the best technicians. The quality of the wax used for a Brazilian is very important and at Dare to be Bare we only use the best gentle creamy hot/ hard wax that contain titanium dioxide and is hypoallergenic.  This wax is suitable for all skin types and causes less redness and trauma to the skin.

Each client will have different expectations of what is involved in a pubic waxing. Some clients only wish to have the removal of any hair around the groin area we call this a bikini line, some clients need a bit more done so we go further up the pubic bone leaving a strip or triangle, then taking all hair out on the inside of the leg to the side of the labia but do not take it off the labia, and the hair just on the upper leg onto the buttock, we call this a g string wax.  Still and others may wish to go all the way taking all the hair of the labia or scrottom to the tail bone, some clients like a strip, triangle  square or  have a particular shape left on the front and some may wish to have all pubic hair removed it’s totally up to the client.

At Dare to be Bare we do hundreds of Brazilian treatments a week, and the therapists will ensure that the client is totally at ease and comfortable throughout the session, and clients at Dare to be Bare are never asked to get on all fours at any time throughout the procedure.  Any questions that the client may have can be addressed during the treatment as they talk the client through the process.

After care is very important and the experienced therapists will make recommendations of how to maintain the Brazilian wax and at what stage to return to the salon for your next treatment. Client’s satisfaction is of great importance to the team at Dare to be Bare and if clients require ant furthered advice our experienced staff would be happy to help.
While some people do try to wax at home, this can result in pain and severe injury especially to sensitive areas, so it’s advisable that a specialist do your waxing.

BENEFITS & DRAWBACKS

There are many benefits to waxing versus other forms of hair removal.

• It is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair at one time.
• It is a long-lasting method.
• Hair in waxed areas will not grow back for two to eight weeks.
• When hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface rather than the root, and will be visible within a few days, and will grow back as rough stubble and be itchy and prickly.
• Areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time often exhibit regrowth that is softer, finer and sparser.

One of the most annoying drawbacks of waxing is that some people experience ingrown hairs, red bumps, and minor bleeding. This is more likely to occur with men and women have very course thick hair and will occur on backs, chest and pubic areas, especially the first few times when follicles are strongest. While ingrown hair can be difficult to eliminate , there are a number of  thing that can be done to reduce them.  Anti bacterial washes,  AHA treatment creams / lotion, regularly exfoliating, and applying an alcohol based astringent solution but you need to take care using the last two as they can dry the skin out, so a moisturiser should be used to keep the skin soft and supple.
